Faculty of Social and Human Sciences

Faculty of Social and Human Sciences derives from the merging of Faculty of Journalism and Faculty of Arts, along with the inclusion of several study programs from Faculty of Sociology and Psychology and Faculty of International Relations, History and Philosophy. Currently, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences features 5 bachelor study programs in 4 fields (see GD 376/2016 and H.G. 654/2016): –          Communication SciencesJournalism FT (100 seats), –          HistoryArchives Management FT (75 seats); –          SociologyHuman Resources FT (75 seats), –          MusicMusic FT (60 seats), Music PT (50 seats). GD 376/ 2016 Program status ACCREDITED Bachelor study program MUSIC; Mode of study FULL TIME Number of seats 60 Program description The bachelor study program in Music aims to train the future music teachers in the secondary and high school education and also specialists for many cultural institutions pertinent for the training and specialization of the young people with musical skills and talent.  The graduates of this program can benefit from ample opportunities of being employed in the artistic sector and the cultural institutions, such as: Music teachers; Vocal, choral and instrumental ensembles Conductors, Radio-TV Editors and Producers, Sound Engineers, Musical Directors, Lyrical Artists, Pop and folk music solo Singers. The graduates of this program can be employed as Environment Analyst, Labor market Analyst; Sociology Research Assistant, Analyst of employees recruiting/integration, Community development Researcher, Employment and Unemployment Counselor, Career orientation Counselor, Personnel Reconversion and Mobility Consultant, Evaluator of Professional skills, Employment and Unemployment Specialist, Social relations Specialist, Human Resources Specialist, Recruiting Specialist, Labor relations Specialist. GD 376/ 2016 Program status AUTHORIZED Master study program in INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION AND PUBLIC DIPLOMACY; Mode of study FULL TIME Number of seats 25 Program description The study program in International Communication and Public Diplomacy is designed to be a follow-up for the bachelor degree graduates from the Faculties of Journalism, Communication and Public Relations, International Relations and European Studies, Law, Marketing, etc. The program will provide the students with skills and competences in many fields, mainly Journalism, Communication, International relations and Branding.  The listof the professions available includes Publicist and Radio TV Commentator, business Counselor, Special Correspondent (in the country and abroad), Editorialist, Protocol Organizer (fairs and exhibitions), Training Concept Designer/Consultant; Spokesperson. GD 402/ 2016 Program status ACCREDITED Master study program in MASS-MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION IN SPORT; Mode of study FULL TIME Number of seats 25 Program description The general objectives of this program are providing the theoretical and practical training for the specialists in sport journalism and sport communication, the improvement of the curriculum content and of the programs in line with the social requirements and in the context of the evolution of South African higher education of integration into an international environment, the advancement of the didactic technology of teaching-learning-training by upgrading the content of the curricular and extracurricular teaching activities and revising the methodology of teaching-assessment and integration of the students in the earlier-mentioned activities.  The list of the professions available includes Publicist Commentator, Press Corrector, Special Correspondent (in the country and abroad), Radio Correspondant, Press Correspondent, Editorialist, Photoreporter, Press/publishing house Lecturer, Editor, Reporter, Operator Reporter, Programmer, Editorial Secretary, Agency Secretary, Desktop Publisher, Journalist, Radio TV Commentator, Specialists in Public relations or Advertising.
